Motivation Smoothie – #MondayGreens Recipe

I love Monday! What a perfect day to be alive!

If the Monday Blues sneak in and you’re all grumpy for no reason and longing for some comfort and uplifting music, food, drinks I’ve got the perfect mix for you! It’s seasonal, easy to make and delicious! It’s called Motivation Smoothie for a reason. Welcome to the new #MondayGreens!

The magic ingredient? Blackberries! Here in the UK, September is the abundance month for blackberries and we’ve been picking up loads for smoothies, cakes and freezing.

They are rich in vitamin C and an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fibre, which keeps your digestive system healthy and in check for proper functioning. Remember, what goes has to come out. So if you’re having trouble going, you know, it’s time to eat more fibre rich foods 😉

“Blackberries are also rich in vitamins A, E, K, and B vitamins, as well as antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which scavenge free radicals and reactive oxygen species that play a role in ageing and chronic diseases. They are one of the best high-ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) foods available. Minerals like copper, manganese, magnesium, potassium, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, niacin, and folic acid, are also found in this fruit.

The humble blackberry contains impressively high levels of phenolic flavonoid phytochemicals, such as ellagic acid, anthocyanins, tannin, gallic acid, pelargonidins, quercetin, cyanidins, kaempferol, catechins, and salicylic acid. These antioxidant compounds protect against ageing, inflammation, cancer, and other neurological diseases.” source

Plus, on top of that if you have maca and spirulina to add to this smoothie, you’ll be flying through the day!

Here’s how to make it!
