On the 21st of July took place the Raw Foods Beginners class in Bucharest, in a great location – a beautiful raw deserts and juice parlour, Rawcoco. I simply loved it! I got to share my passion and love for health and well being and over 25 excited students got to enjoy 7 delicious recipes while hearing about the benefits, hacks and quirks of an alkaline, plant based lifestyle. It was also the first time when we had to turn people away because the location was too small to fit everyone. I promise I’ll be back for more!
Until then i wanted to share with you a basic green smoothie recipe adapted to the seasonal and local supply.
To my shock you can barely find and spinach in the markets in Romania in summer time. Kale is unheard of. And I didn’t want to resort to supermaket spinach brought from abroad. Thus, to make it simple and explain that you can use any greens you got on hand, I chose parsley. And the result was so good.
Parsley is loaded in chlorophyll, iron and vitamin c, which will aid the iron absorption. It also purifies the blood and is triggering an liver enzyme that supports detoxification. If you sprinkled it only scarcely over your salads, it’s time to get to the next level.
Here’s how.
Beginner’s Green Smoothie – The Parsley Version
Ingredients:
-1 handful parsley
-1 apple
-1 banana
-1 slice lemon
-1 slice ginger
-water halfway through the ingredients
How to:
Chop the parsley roughly and add to a blender with a cup of water. Pulse a couple of time to break it apart then add the rest of ingredients and water and blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!
