It’s been a while since I had the time to play with green smoothies the way I like it in my kitchen. As I finally got back to London and my routine after a crazy summer and autumn (the good kind of crazy! more about that later) I actually craved for a simple green smoothie. How awkward is that? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love opening my cupboard and pulling super foods and powders to add to my smoothies because it makes me feel like an alchemist with super powders. Pow! Pow!However, when I do take a step back and keep it simple I realise how amazing these drinks are. Ready?
You don’t need much for this. Whether you have a smoothie to go blender or a high speed blender this will blend… and blend … and blend with your taste buds. I love Swiss chard in my salads, I love it lightly steamed and I totally love it in green smoothies. Whenever I go to the market and come back with a big bunch I feel like I’ve just got the prettiest flower bouquet in the world. I know, right? Don’t need much to impress me – a bunch of kale and chard will do wonders with me!
So here’s the drill. No rocket science. No rocket in it either. Yet.
Ingredients:
– 3 leaves Swiss chard
– 1 and 1/2 oranges, peeled
– 1/2 apple
– 1 medium banana
– 1/2 cup water
– love (can’t do without it)
How to:
Add the oranges water and greens first and mix for 30 seconds. Process by adding the rest of the apple and banana to it and whiz it up into a creamy, dreamy potion. Et voila! Enjoy!
