Post workout green smoothie
Whether you’re training for a run, hitting the gym or doing yoga, you’re breaking up your muscles every time you work out. In order to speed up recovery and fuel the right way you need to alkalise and give your body the right foods.
A post workout smoothie should contain greens, protein (hemp or pea, or plant based mixes), carbs, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory spices (ginger, turmeric).
Here’s a great post workout green smoothie that will speed up your recovery and fuel you without spending too much energy on digesting it. The secret lies in having this in the 40 minute gap after a workout as well as having a very good plant based protein source in it. You may replace the melon with one banana.
– 1 handful spinach
– 1 slice melon
– 1/2 avocado
– 1 apple
– 1 inch knob ginger
– 2 dates (pitted)
– 1 slice of lemon (peeled)
– 1 spoon hemp protein
– 1 spoon bee pollen (optional)
Fill with water half way through the jug and blend. Add more water if needed and blend it smooth. If you wish you can use some ice to make it cooler or at least one frozen ingredient. However, body temperature is the best so you avoid spending more energy on converting it. Enjoy!
